In a heart-warming throwback to the days when women’s suffrage was still just an irritating rumour, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth has reposted a video from his favourite Christian nationalist clubhouse — the one where the pastors get misty-eyed at the thought of revoking women’s right to vote.
The clip, lovingly curated from Doug Wilson’s “Church of the Household Voter,” features everything a modern democracy could want: men explaining why they should have all the say, women explaining why they’re fine with that, and an underlying sense that someone’s about to suggest reinstating the corset.
Hegseth, clearly moved, shared it on X with the uplifting caption “All of Christ for All of Life”, which apparently also translates as “All of the ballot for All of the husbands.”
Reactions were mixed — some applauded the nostalgia, others found it “disturbing,” which is code for “I thought we’d agreed on the whole equality thing.” Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell confirmed that Hegseth is indeed a “proud” member of the church in question, and appreciates Wilson’s teachings — presumably the same way one “appreciates” a Victorian etiquette manual.
Meanwhile, Hegseth continues to host prayer services inside the Pentagon, proving once again that America’s military strategy includes God, guns, and apparently, going backwards.
